Instrumentally Speaking is one of the Encore classes offered by semester at CCMS. Student select to participate in this class which meets each day for a 40 minute period.
Students will have the opportunity to experience a variety of instrumental performing. The units of study include a drum unit, an orff unit, an electric keyboard unit as well as a computer/technology unit. Music theory, music history and music composition will also be a part of the class schedule. Students will be graded on their daily participation, assignments, assessments/performances. |
Drumming UnitStudents will perform with a variety of drums such as hand drums and bucket drums. The focus for this unit is rhythmic reading and composition.

Orff UnitStudents will rotate through the different ranges of orff instruments including bass, alto, soprano and glockenspiel. The focus for this unit is melodic reading and composition.
Electronic Composition Unit
Students will compose several compositions using web programs with the use of their computers as well as other technology provided at the school. The focus of this unit is composing, theory and form.

Electronic Keyboard UnitStudents will develop skills needed to play the electronic keyboard. This unit is individually paced. Students will learn to play simple two handed pieces as well as more advanced selections based on their progress and experience. The focus for this unit is music reading and music theory.
